Latest research shows: 1.5°C is out of reach

A latest article “Indicators of Global Climate Change 2024: annual update of key indicators of the state of the climate system and human influence” (essd.copernicus.org/articles/17/2641/2025) from 60 renowned scientist shows, there is only about 3 years left to stay within the so call 1.5°C “greenhouse gas” (GHG) emission budget. This budget is calculated based on the “United Nations Paris Agreement” from 2015. It aims to stay below 1.5°C overall global temperature rise in comparision to the average global temperature in the years 1850-1900 (so called “per-industrial period”).

The 1.5°C limit is seen from renowned global warming scientist as a “physical limit”, since breaching this limit means so call “tipping points” will be reached and self-reinforcing cycles will change our climate irreversible and dramatically.
